Deep River Creative! My name is Angela Lehrbass.
Deep River Creative was a name I came up with when I lived in Texas - but it didn't come into full use until I married my husband, Rodney, and moved to West Virginia. Rodney and I are both naturally creative, mostly in different areas...but in some of the same areas as well. We both have recieved the honor of being juried Tamarack artisans which means alot here in West Virginia.
Rodney is a Master Woodturner, originally from California. He makes some amazing works of art out of various types of wood. He also makes smaller decorative pieces, as well as sports and hunting items (like baseball bats and top quality turkey calls),
and functional pieces for the kitchen and serving (like salad bowls, rolling pins, mortar and pestle, platters, plates, etc., etc.). He does custom woodturning orders as well, such as reproducing damaged or broken vintage furniture spindals and finnial turnings.
I am a photographer, wood burner, graphic artist, web designer, illustrator, technical writer, creative writer, painter, pencil artist, picture framer, ...etc. My love for photography started when I was 10. My skills and "eye" have developed over the years by observation, trial and error, and success. I continue to explore new ways to capture the beauty and things of interest that I come in contact with.
I also love capturing people. Commercial photography is another aspect of photography that I enjoy. So, basically - I love taking pictures. Obviously. The creative art that I venture into is very wide-spread. I suppose my favorite form of fine art to create is pencil drawings.
I love the shading and all the little details. Wood craft is my newest art form. I didn't get into wood art until July of 2009, when my husband introduced me to his professional wood burning system. I love it! It's enormously time-consuming, but it's quite enjoyable! The other creative ventures are mostly business related. I have extensive experience in the corporate world (Houston, Texas) doing everything from being the lead software support technician for over 700 employees of a major corporation in downtown Houston, to web design, technical writing, drafting, presentations, etc., for all kinds of companies (some major and some smaller). All that to say - I have a wide range of experience and interests.
Together, Rodney and I have created Deep River Creative gallery and studios. It may not be "fair" that we get to have fun for a living, but there ya go. We do! We truly enjoy what we do, and we love it even more when we can create something that makes someone else happy.
Please stop in sometime and see what we have to offer. It's always changing, so come in often.
